TM35
TABLE MOUNTAIN 35KM
SHORTER IN KILOMETRES BUT A TOUGH CHALLENGE IN THE FORM OF UNRELENTING ASCENTS AND DESCENTS, COVERING OVER 1950 M OF ELEVATION GAIN.
The race of two big climbs and nearly 2000m of elevation, TM35 has the biggest elevation-to-distance ratio of all RMB UTCT distances.
The first climb takes runners onto the top of Table Mountain up Platteklip Gorge. From there, the course features technical descents and some flat, runnable sections, the "400 Stairs" climb along the Newlands contour. Here, runners might start to experience the effect of Cape Town's summer sun as Sunday has historically been the hottest day of the weekend.
Dropping down the ravine, runners head into the shaded forest, back through UCT before going up the climb to the King's Blockhouse. From there, it's the final contour stretch back down to Garden's Rugby Club.
